The ХVIIth meeting of the Interstate Commission on Military-Economic Cooperation of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will be held on September 12, 2019 in Yerevan, the Republic of Armenia

On September 12 this year, the ХVIIth meeting of the Interstate Commission on Military-Economic Cooperation of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (Commission) will be held in Yerevan, the Republic of Armenia.

The meeting of the Commission will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Interstate Commission on Military-Economic Cooperation Borisov Yuri Ivanovich.

The CSTO Acting Secretary General  Valery Semerikov will take part in the work of the Commission.

The meeting participants will  consider a wide range of issues on the implementation of decisions adopted by the Interstate Commission on Military-Economic Cooperation at a meeting in September last year in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan), as well as regarding the implementation of the activities of the CSTO member states Military-Economic Cooperation Program, adopted in May 2016.

The following topics were discussed: the implementation of measures in the area of standardization of weapons and military equipment within the framework of the CSTO, the creation of a cataloging system for the supply items of the armed forces of the member states of the Organization, improving the quality of jointly developed and manufactured military products, mutual protection of intellectual property rights obtained and used in the course of military-economic cooperation of the CSTO member states.

Based on the results of the upcoming discussion, it is planned to determine the tasks of the Commission for the coming year.

On the eve of the plenary meeting of the Commission for two days – on September 10 and 11, a meeting of the Working Group on issues of military-economic cooperation under the Chairman of the Interstate Commission on Military-Economic Cooperation will be held in Yerevan with the participation of the CSTO member state experts to complete the coordination and preparation of documents submitted for consideration by the Commission.

The CSTO Interstate Commission on Military-Economic Cooperation was created by the Decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council of June 23, 2005.

One of the main functions of the Commission is the development of recommendations and decision-making aimed at ensuring multilateral military-economic (technical) cooperation in priority areas of cooperation. Among them are the development and implementation of long-term programs of military-economic (technical) cooperation, the preservation of specialization and cooperation in the production of military products, the creation of joint ventures (organizations) for the development, production, modernization, repair and disposal of military products, as well as joint research and experimental designing work on the development and modernization of military products, etc.
